8th International Symposium on Peripheral Nerve Regeneration - Mechanisms, Novel Therapies, and Translational Advances

Peripheral nerve injuries remain a major clinical challenge. Despite significant improvements in microsurgical techniques, the regenerative capacity of injured nerves is limited, and most patients are left with permanent motor, sensory, and autonomic deficits. Complete functional recovery is still uncommon. In recent years, a wide range of experimental approaches, including cell-based therapies, biomaterials, gene therapy, and pharmacological strategies, have shown promising potential to enhance nerve regeneration. However, translating these advances into routine clinical practice continues to be a major hurdle.Aligned with the ISPNR 2026, which will take place in Granada, Spain., this Research Topic aims to bring together cutting-edge research in peripheral nerve regeneration, spanning from basic mechanistic studies to preclinical models, translational research, and early-phase clinical trials. We welcome original contributions that provide new insights into the cellular and molecular mechanisms of nerve repair, innovative therapeutic strategies, and advanced methods for evaluating nerve regeneration. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:· Molecular and cellular mechanisms of peripheral nerve degeneration and regeneration ;· Cell-based therapies: stem cells, progenitor cells, secretome, exosomes, and paracrine-mediated approaches;· Biomaterials and tissue engineering for nerve guidance and repair;· Gene therapy and molecular modulation of regeneration pathways;· Pharmacological, nutritional, and conservative therapies;· Advanced functional, electrophysiological, imaging, and histomorphometric assessment techniques;· Computational modeling and bioinformatics or AI-based approaches to predict regenerative outcomes;· Translational and clinical studies evaluating novel interventions. The ISPNR 2026 will serve as an important platform for leading scientists, clinicians, and early-career researchers to share breakthrough findings, build international collaborations, and help accelerate the development of effective therapies for patients with peripheral nerve injuries.Submissions are warmly encouraged from all researchers working in the field of peripheral nerve regeneration, whether or not they are presenting at the symposium.
