Advanced Biosensors and Bioelectronic Platforms for Precision Healthcare
Recent advances in biosensors and bioelectronic platforms are reshaping precision healthcare by enabling rapid, sensitive, and minimally invasive detection of clinically relevant biomarkers. The integration of functional nanomaterials, electrochemical transduction, wearable and implantable devices, and microfluidic lab-on-a-chip systems has greatly expanded the capabilities of next-generation healthcare technologies for early diagnosis, continuous monitoring, and decentralized testing. In parallel, emerging data-driven approaches are improving biosensor signal interpretation, supporting more accurate and actionable clinical decision-making.Despite these advances, major challenges remain in translating biosensing technologies from proof-of-concept studies to practical healthcare applications. Key barriers include device miniaturization, long-term operational stability, sample-to-answer integration, multiplexed detection, manufacturing scalability, and validation in clinically relevant settings. There is therefore a strong need for interdisciplinary efforts that combine materials science, engineering, biology, and medicine to develop robust biosensors and bioelectronic systems tailored to real healthcare needs. This Research Topic aims to bring together cutting-edge studies on the design, fabrication, integration, and application of advanced biosensors and bioelectronic platforms for healthcare.
