Advanced Characterization and Fabrication for Secondary Batteries
Secondary batteries such as Li-ion batteries have dramatically impacted the real life, for example portable electronics and electric vehicles. To further meet the ever-increasing demand of energy and decrease the battery cost, an amount of research efforts have been focused on developing high-performance secondary batteries. With the recent advancement of characterization methods, a much deeper understanding of batteries, covering a wide range of different aspects to a high-precision level, has critically driven to superior secondary batteries. Goal: This Topic focuses on the development of advanced fabrication and characterization methods, and the usage of such methods to develop high-performance secondary batteries. We particularly encourage submissions featuring techniques that have only recently become accessible to battery research or that offer exceptionally high spatial or temporal resolution. In addition, articles addressing emerging fabrication approaches for next-generation secondary batteries, as well as advanced methods for understanding and mitigating battery safety issues, are especially welcome.Scope and information for authors:With this Research Topic, we are aiming to collect a set of articles that reflect the most recent progress on developing or using advanced fabrication or characterization methods for secondary batteries. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: • Novel synthesis and emerging fabrication methods for secondary batteries• Advanced structural and compositional characterization• High-resolution spectroscopic and microscopic studies• Operando and in situ electrochemical testing• Phase transitions, mechanical degradation, and battery safety mechanisms Topic editors: Peng ZUO, Zehao Cui, Xiaodong Zhao, Chun Yuen Kwok Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/84847/advanced-characterization-and-fabrication-for-secondary-batteries
