Advancements in neuroimaging and stimulation for MCI and other neurocognitive disorders, Volume II
Neurocognitive disorders, including Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and related dementias, pose an increasingly significant global health challenge. Early and accurate diagnosis, alongside effective therapeutic interventions, is critical in delaying progression and improving the quality of life for affected individuals. This Research Topic aims to spotlight and synthesize emerging developments in the application of advanced neuroimaging technologies and neurostimulation strategies to MCI and broader neurocognitive disorders. We particularly seek contributions that explore innovations in structural and functional neuroimaging (such as MRI, PET, fMRI, MEG, and EEG) and their utility in early diagnosis, differential diagnosis, disease progression monitoring, and biomarker discovery. Equally, we encourage submissions examining non-invasive brain stimulation techniques—such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), and emerging modalities—for their therapeutic potential and mechanistic insights into neurocognitive disorders.Of special interest are multidisciplinary works that bridge neuroimaging findings with clinical, cognitive, or molecular outcomes. We welcome studies addressing the following topics:1. Novel imaging biomarkers for early detection and prognosis of MCI and other neurocognitive disorders.2. Technical innovations in imaging and stimulation protocols, including multimodal or longitudinal approaches.3. Investigations into the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying cognitive decline, as revealed by integrative neuroimaging and stimulation data.4. Translational and clinical studies assessing the efficacy, safety, and individualized application of neurostimulation therapies.5. The use of artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance neuroimaging analysis or guide stimulation targets.
