Advances in Critical Care Blood Purification Volume II
Critical care medicine has evolved rapidly, leading to an increased application of blood purification within intensive care units (ICUs). This practice, referred to as Critical Care Blood Purification (CCBP), now stands distinct from traditional blood purification methods. Over years of theoretical and clinical development, CCBP has emerged not just as a technological advancement but as a comprehensive scientific system. It integrates unique theories, principles, methods, and treatment protocols. As a multidisciplinary domain, CCBP interfaces critical care medicine with blood purification, exploring the interactions and alterations in the body's internal environment in response to critical illnesses. It further leverages blood purification technologies to manage and treat severe conditions based within the framework of critical medicine theory.CCBP, also known as Extracorporeal Organ Support (ECOS) or Extracorporeal Multiple Organ Support (EMOS), employs extracorporeal techniques to offer support for one or multiple organ failures in critically ill patients. The primary techniques include continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), plasmapheresis, adsorption technologies, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), along with combination approaches. These methods enhance the care of patients with organ failure, providing targeted and systematic support. The following article types are welcome for submission to this Research Topic: Brief Research Report, Case Report, Clinical Trial, Data Report, Methods, Mini Review, Opinion, Original Research, Perspective, Review, Study Protocol, and Systematic Review.
