Postpartum depression is a significant mental health concern affecting new mothers worldwide. Despite being a well-documented issue, it continues to present challenges in diagnosis and management due to its complex interplay of biological, psychological, and social factors. Ongoing debates within the field focus on the accuracy of diagnostic tools and the efficacy of treatment methods. Major studies have striven to identify biological markers and socio-environmental triggers to enhance understanding and intervention strategies. However, inconsistency in findings and the lack of personalised treatment approaches highlight a gap in existing knowledge and the need for further comprehensive research. This Research Topic aims to uncover and analyse recent advancements in the identification and treatment of postpartum depression. By focusing on novel diagnostic techniques, therapeutic modalities, and interdisciplinary approaches, the objective is to develop a nuanced understanding of postpartum depression’s multifaceted nature.
