Advances in Supersonic Ejector Systems: Design, Optimization, and Application

This Research Topic aims to delve into the advancements in the design and application of supersonic ejector systems. It encompasses various design approaches, including constant pressure mixing (CPM), constant area mixing (CAM), constant rate of momentum change (CRMC), and constant rate of kinetic energy change (CRKEC), applied across various fields such as cooling, mixing, compression, and fuel cell systems. The ejector's ability to operate with low-grade waste heat, along with its simplicity and reliability, makes it a promising mechanical device. However, its complexity arises from factors such as irreversibility, performance dependency on design approach, operating conditions, working fluid, and field of application.Despite the ejector system's relatively low performance, there is scope for improvement through the utilization of a physics-based design approach that addresses challenges such as shockless diffusion, frictional losses, jet expansion and position, mixing losses, and optimization. This Research Topic aims to showcase the latest analytical, numerical, and experimental studies that contribute to overcoming these challenges and enhancing ejector performance through innovative design and optimization across various fields of application.
