Advancing Workplace Health Promotion through Digital Public Health Technologies

The digital transformation of healthcare and public health has created unprecedented opportunities to improve workplace health promotion across diverse occupational settings. Rapid advances in digital public health technologies - including artificial intelligence (AI), wearable devices, mobile health (mHealth) applications, telehealth, digital surveillance systems, Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, and data analytics - are reshaping how organizations monitor, prevent, and manage physical and mental health risks among employees. These technologies support more personalized, proactive, and evidence-based workplace interventions while expanding access to health services and facilitating real-time decision-making. However, organizations continue to face important challenges related to technology adoption, employee engagement, digital literacy, privacy and data security, ethical governance, implementation costs, and the evaluation of long-term effectiveness. Addressing these issues is essential to maximize the contribution of digital public health innovations to healthier, safer, and more sustainable workplaces. The goal of this Research Topic is to advance scientific understanding of how digital public health technologies can promote healthier workplaces and improve employee well-being, organizational resilience, and sustainable workforce development. We seek to bring together multidisciplinary research that examines the design, implementation, adoption, effectiveness, and governance of innovative digital solutions for workplace health promotion across public and private sectors. This Research Topic welcomes empirical studies, systematic and scoping reviews, methodological papers, implementation studies, policy analyses, and interdisciplinary perspectives that explore recent advances in digital workplace health. Particular attention will be given to research investigating artificial intelligence for occupational health decision support, wearable and sensor technologies for health monitoring, digital mental health interventions, telehealth services for employees, predictive analytics for disease prevention, digital health behavior change interventions, occupational safety technologies, and data-driven strategies for improving workplace well-being. Contributions addressing implementation barriers, ethical and legal considerations, privacy protection, digital equity, employee acceptance, organizational readiness, and cross-sector collaboration are also encouraged. By bringing together diverse perspectives from public health, medicine, occupational health, psychology, digital health, information systems, engineering, management, and policy, thisResearch Topic aims to identify innovative solutions that support healthier, more inclusive, and technologically enabled workplaces while informing future research, practice, and public health policy. This Research Topic welcomes submissions covering, but not limited to, the following themes:Artificial intelligence, machine learning, and predictive analytics for workplace health promotionDigital public health technologies in occupational healthDigital mental health and employee well-beingTelehealth and remote occupational healthcareDigital interventions for chronic disease prevention and health promotion at workDigital surveillance and early warning systems for occupational healthImplementation science, program evaluation, and policy/regulatory perspectives on digital workplace healthDigital solutions for workplace safety and injury preventionOrganizational resilience and healthy digital work environments Topic editors: Mouloudj Kamel, Anuli Njoku Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/83845/advancing-workplace-health-promotion-through-digital-public-health-technologies
