Aerodynamic Loads, Aeroelastic Response, and Performance Optimization in Wind Energy Systems
This Research Topic focuses on the aerodynamic and aeroelastic factors that influence the performance, reliability, and efficiency of modern wind energy systems. As wind turbines become larger and are deployed in more demanding onshore and offshore environments, the interaction between unsteady flow, structural response, wake effects, and operational strategies becomes increasingly important. Although major progress has been made, important questions remain. These include how aerodynamic loading affects structural behavior, how wake interactions influence energy capture and turbine response, and how improved physical understanding can support more efficient and reliable wind energy systems. This Topic aims to bring together research that strengthens knowledge of these coupled effects and supports better turbine and wind farm performance in practice.Goal:The goal of this Research Topic is to gather original research and practical insights that improve the understanding and optimization of wind energy systems. We aim to highlight advances in aerodynamic loading, aeroelastic response, wake interaction, structural behavior, and performance improvement strategies that can enhance energy yield, operational reliability, and long-term system efficiency.Scope and information for Authors:Contributions are invited on research that strengthens the analysis, design, and performance of wind energy systems. Topics may include:• Aerodynamic loading and performance of wind turbines under steady, unsteady, and wake-affected inflow conditions• Aeroelastic response, structural behavior, and fluid-structure interaction in wind turbine blades and related components• Wake interaction, turbine-to-turbine effects, and approaches to improve wind farm performance and energy yield• Experimental, analytical, and applied modeling studies that support turbine optimization, reliability, and lifetime extension Topic editors: Shine Win Naung, Yufeng Yao Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/81333/aerodynamic-loads-aeroelastic-response-and-performance-optimization-in-wind-energy-systems
