Agricultural Residues and Biomass Waste: Pathways to Renewable Bioenergy

This Research Topic addresses the growing need to convert agricultural residues and biomass waste into valuable energy outputs as part of the transition to sustainable energy systems. Anaerobic digestion and related bio-resource pathways offer practical routes to local waste-to-energy solutions, but questions remain around scaling these processes efficiently while maximizing energy recovery. This topic will explore how agricultural waste streams can be transformed into renewable bioenergy within a circular bioeconomy framework that reduces waste and supports rural energy resilience.Goal:The goal of this Research Topic is to bring together research that advances the conversion of agricultural residues and biomass waste into bioenergy. We aim to highlight process innovations, resource assessment methods, and real-world applications that improve efficiency, scalability, and sustainability across the waste-to-energy value chain.Scope and information for Authors:We welcome contributions that advance the understanding and application of agricultural waste-to-energy conversion. Topics can include:• Anaerobic digestion and other bioconversion processes for agricultural residues• Circular bioeconomy models linking waste valorization to local energy systems• Techno-economic and environmental assessment of waste-to-energy pathways Topic editors: V Venkatramanan, Shachi Shah Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/85294/agricultural-residues-and-biomass-waste-pathways-to-renewable-bioenergy
