AI-Enabled Digital Twins and Geospatial Intelligence for Smart and Resilient Built Environments

The growing deployment of digital twins in structural and infrastructure systems has created new opportunities for real-time monitoring, condition assessment, predictive maintenance, and lifecycle management of assets such as buildings, bridges, transportation networks, and other critical infrastructure. Despite recent progress, several challenges remain, including the integration of multi-source sensing data, accurate representation of structural behavior, model calibration, uncertainty quantification, and reliable prediction of future system performance. This Research Topic focuses on advanced computational methods for AI-enabled digital twins and intelligent monitoring of civil infrastructure systems. Contributions are particularly encouraged on hybrid approaches that combine finite element modeling, system identification, model updating, and physics-informed machine learning for structural health monitoring, damage detection, performance prediction, and infrastructure resilience.Topics of interest include GIS, remote sensing, and IoT data integration; data fusion and spatio-temporal analytics; uncertainty quantification; reliability and risk assessment; validation and verification of digital twin models; and decision-support systems for resilient and sustainable infrastructure management.By combining structural engineering, computational modeling, AI, and geospatial intelligence, the Topic seeks to support trustworthy and scalable digital twin solutions for resilient infrastructure systems. We welcome Original Research articles, Review papers, and Perspective contributions presenting novel methodologies, theoretical developments, or practical applications that advance the monitoring, analysis, and management of structural and infrastructure assets.
