AI-Native and Agentic Intelligence for 6G Networks

The evolution toward 6G networks is transforming communication systems from conventional connectivity infrastructures into intelligent, autonomous, adaptive, and consumer-centric ecosystems. The convergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Edge Computing, Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN), Space–Air–Ground Integrated Networks (SAGIN), AI-RAN, distributed intelligence, and emerging consumer applications offers new opportunities for resilient, secure, sustainable, and personalized communication services. This Research Topic focuses on the emerging paradigm of AI-native and agentic intelligence for 6G networks, where AI is deeply integrated into communication, computing, sensing, and networking infrastructures. Particular emphasis is placed on Edge AI, distributed intelligence, federated and split learning, TinyML, on-device AI, Edge LLMs, agentic AI, semantic communications, AI-driven Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC), and autonomous network management. The integration of satellites, UAVs, HAPS, terrestrial networks, edge/cloud platforms, and consumer devices can enable intelligent and resilient connectivity for smart homes, IoT, wearables, XR, cyber-physical systems, and other emerging consumer applications. The Research Topic welcomes theoretical, algorithmic, experimental, and system-level contributions addressing the design, optimization, security, and practical deployment of next-generation intelligent communication systems.Topics of InterestTopics of interest include, but are not limited to:• AI-Native and Agentic Architectures for 6G Networks• Edge AI and Distributed Intelligence for SAGIN/NTN• Federated Learning and Split Learning for Wireless Networks• TinyML and On-Device AI for Consumer Systems• Edge LLMs, Foundation Models, and Generative AI for 6G• Agentic AI and Multi-Agent Systems for Networking• AI-RAN and Intelligent Radio Resource Management• Autonomous Network Management and Network Automation• Semantic and Goal-Oriented Communications• AI-Driven Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC)• QoS/QoE-Aware and Personalized Networking• Smart Homes, Consumer IoT, and Cyber-Physical Systems• Wearable and Personal Communication Systems• AR/VR/XR and Ultra-Low-Latency Consumer Services• Satellite–UAV–HAPS–Terrestrial Network Integration• Intelligent NTN and SAGIN Resource Management• Edge/Cloud Continuum for 6G Networks• Digital Twins and Real-World 5G/6G Testbeds• AI-Enabled Network Resilience and Self-Healing• Cybersecurity, Privacy, and Trustworthy AI for 6G• Explainable, Responsible, and Secure AI-Native Networking• Energy-Efficient and Sustainable AI/6G Networks• Intelligent Spectrum Sharing and Network Slicing• AI-Enabled Mobility, Positioning, and Context-Aware Communications• Cross-Layer AI Optimization for 6G Systems• Emerging Consumer Applications of AI-Native 6G Networks.
