Artificial Intelligence for Next-Generation Digital Health: From Predictive Analytics to Personalized Care
Over the past decade, artificial intelligence (AI) has become a major driver of digital health transformation, enabling more predictive, preventive, personalized, and participatory models of care. Advances in machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI, - paired with the rapid evolution of wearables, connected devices, and digital health infrastructure - have expanded AI’s role across clinical decision support, computer-assisted diagnosis, precision medicine, remote patient monitoring, biomedical data analytics, and care delivery optimization. Yet widespread adoption brings real challenges: data quality and governance, interoperability, model explainability, privacy protection, and unresolved ethical, regulatory, and clinical implementation questions. This Research Topic invites original contributions addressing recent advances in AI for digital health, bringing together researchers, clinicians, engineers, biostatisticians, data scientists, and healthcare professionals around methodological, technological, and clinical innovation. We welcome original research articles, systematic reviews, methodological studies, clinical validation studies, and real-world applications spanning the design, development, validation, deployment, and evaluation of AI-based digital health solutions. Priority will go to work demonstrating robustness, generalizability, interpretability, and clinical impact, and to studies that advance safe, effective, patient-centered care.By fostering collaboration across computer science, biomedical engineering, health informatics, clinical medicine, public health, and health policy, this collection aims to help define the next generation of intelligent digital health systems (ones built on responsible, ethical, and evidence-based innovation). Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:• AI-assisted clinical decision support• Machine learning in disease prediction• Generative AI in healthcare• Large Language Models for clinical applications• Digital biomarkers• Wearable sensors and Internet of Medical Things (IoMT)• Digital twins in healthcare• Personalized medicine• Remote patient monitoring• Explainable AI (XAI)• Federated learning• Privacy-preserving AI• AI ethics and governance• Regulatory challenges• AI for healthcare sustainability Topic editors: Philippe GORCE Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/85048/artificial-intelligence-for-next-generation-digital-health-from-predictive-analytics-to-personalized-care
