Biomechanics, technology, and athletic performance: pathways to sustainable health, Volume II

Sport biomechanics is a vital field that underpins the scientific understanding of human motion, contributing to the optimization of movement efficiency, injury prevention, and improved overall well-being. With an increasing emphasis on sustainable development and public health, integrating biomechanics with advanced technologies and ergonomic solutions presents a significant opportunity to foster lifelong physical activity and promote sustainable health outcomes. Recent studies emphasize the critical role of biomechanics in designing athletic training systems that support effective performance and healthy, active lifestyles. However, there remains a gap in fully leveraging biomechanics-based insights across diverse populations, particularly those beyond elite athletic circles, to align with global health objectives. This Research Topic aims to bring together cutting-edge research and interdisciplinary perspectives that delve into the application of biomechanics-based insights and technologies across varied populations. From elite athletes striving for peak performance to general health enthusiasts seeking an active lifestyle, the objective is to explore how these insights can enhance performance metrics, reduce the risk of injuries, and encourage more widespread engagement in physical activities. Encouraging submissions that create a bridge between fundamental biomechanics and practical applications, we are particularly interested in areas such as sports footwear innovation, advancements in wearable sensor technology, strategies for postural and neuromuscular control training, and approaches in functional rehabilitation. To gather further insights into the dynamic relationship between biomechanics and sustainable health, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:o Sports biomechanicso Human movement analysiso Injury prevention through biomechanicso Development and use of wearable sensors for monitoringo Ergonomic interventions for load-bearingo Strategies for sustainable active living and health promotiono Innovations in footwear design and biomechanicso Enhancements in neuromuscular control techniqueso Athletic performance optimizationo Overall health promotion initiatives Topic editors: Wei-Hsun Tai, Hsien-Te Peng, Akihiro Tamura, Jian Zhi Lin Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/81857/biomechanics-technology-and-athletic-performance-pathways-to-sustainable-health-volume-ii
