Bridging Genomic Analysis: User-Friendly Platforms in Epigenomics

The field of epigenomics has undergone rapid transformation with advances in technologies such as DNA methylation arrays and next-generation sequencing. Platforms like the Infinium Human Methylation BeadChip have enabled high-throughput measurement of methylation signals across the genome, offering unprecedented insight into gene regulation and disease etiology. Despite these advances, a critical challenge persists: the widespread use of complex data analysis pipelines often demands specialized programming expertise, limiting accessibility to researchers without formal training in bioinformatics. Recent studies highlight how user-friendly computational environments, exemplified by tools within the Galaxy platform, are beginning to lower this barrier. Yet questions remain regarding the scalability, reproducibility, and integration capabilities of these intuitive solutions within broader genomic workflows. The need for systematic evaluation and optimization of such platforms has therefore become a focal point for advancing inclusion and efficiency in epigenomic research. This Research Topic aims to assess how user-friendly computational platforms are reshaping the landscape of DNA methylation analysis. Specifically, it seeks to explore how advancements in intuitive interfaces and standardized pipelines are transforming data accessibility, fostering collaboration between biologists and computational scientists, and accelerating translational outcomes in epigenetics research. Contributors are invited to address key objectives, such as comparing performance between traditional and accessible tools, identifying best practices for workflow design, and evaluating the social and educational impacts of democratizing epigenomic analysis. To gather further insights into the intersection of computational usability and genomic analysis, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:o The evolution of DNA methylation and epigenome-wide association study technologieso Design and implementation of user-friendly analytical pipelineso Integration of open-source tools within large-scale data environmentso Case studies demonstrating accessibility improvements in epigenomic researcho Evaluation metrics for reproducibility and user experience in bioinformatics toolso Educational strategies and training frameworks to bridge computational skill gaps Topic editors: Leonardo Koerich, Miten Jain Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/84546/bridging-genomic-analysis-user-friendly-platforms-in-epigenomics
