Chemical Design of Molecular/Nano-Sized Probes and Stimuli-Responsive Agents for Image-Guided Theranostics - Volume II

This Research Topic is Volume II of a series. The previous volume can be found here: Recent Progress in Drug Delivery Technologies for Advanced PharmaceuticsPrecision medicine depends on molecular agents that can both report on and respond to a disease environment. Realizing this depends first on chemistry: the rational design, synthesis, and optimization of molecular/nano-sized probes, diagnostic and therapeutic agents, carrier matrix, and stimuli-responsive constructs whose behavior is governed by defined structural features. This second volume focuses on the chemical design of image-guided and stimuli-responsive agents for theranostics, with the molecular or materials advance as the central contribution. We invite Original Research, Reviews, and Mini-Reviews in which a defined chemical advance drives diagnostic or therapeutic function. Priority is given to work reporting new molecular design, synthetic methodology, and structure-property or structure-activity relationships, supported by rigorous structural and physicochemical characterization. Studies that are primarily formulation-, device-, or in vivo efficacy-focused, without a clear molecular chemistry advance, are better suited to other Frontiers journals and sections.Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:• Design and synthesis of molecular imaging probes and contrast agents (NIR- fluorophores, MRI, Ultrasound, and photoacoustic agents), with emphasis on the chemistry underlying their signal properties• Design and synthesis of nano-sized diagnostic and therapeutic platforms• Design and synthesis of matrix for drug delivery• Chemistry of stimuli-responsive triggers and linkers (pH, redox, enzyme, and light activated) and the molecular basis of their switching behavior• Structure-property and structure-activity relationships governing responsiveness, stability, selectivity, and molecular recognition• Synthetic strategies for multifunctional agents that integrate diagnostic reporting with a therapeutic mode of action• Molecular design of targeting ligands and recognition motifs, and their effect on selectivity and pharmacokinetic behavior• Computational, cheminformatic, and structural studies supporting the design and optimization of theranostic agents Topic editors: Bing Guo, Qinglian Hu, Tingting Peng, Shubham Roy, Yuyang Gu Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/86503/chemical-design-of-molecularnano-sized-probes-and-stimuli-responsive-agents-for-image-guided-theranostics---volume-ii
