Compassion, Mindfulness, and Resilience in Clinical Treatment - Volume II

This is the second edition of 'Compassion, Mindfulness, and Resilience in Clinical Treatment', welcoming new research article contributions this year. You can check out the previous volume one here. Compassion-focused therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and resilience-enhancing strategies are growing increasingly prominent within clinical psychology and wider therapeutic settings. As mental health care evolves to address a diverse and complex range of psychological disorders - including mood, anxiety, trauma-related, and personality disorders - there is an urgent need to understand how integrative, holistic approaches can reduce psychological distress and promote sustained well-being. Although compassion, mindfulness, and resilience are individually linked to positive mental health outcomes, questions remain regarding their underlying mechanisms, optimal delivery methods, and real-world effectiveness across different populations. Recent studies highlight promising results for both clinician-led and technology-facilitated interventions, yet gaps persist in cultural adaptation, scalability, and long-term impact, particularly in historically underserved populations. This Research Topic aims to provide a platform for exploring the integration and implementation of compassion, mindfulness, and resilience in clinical treatment. The objective is to deepen our understanding of the mediators and moderators of therapeutic success, identify actionable strategies to foster treatment engagement, and promote recovery and adaptive coping in diverse patient groups. The collection looks at mechanisms that drive the therapeutic benefits of these approaches as well as which intervention components yield the greatest impact. It will consider how digital innovations and precision mental health tools can be used to support personalized, equitable care. Submissions that highlight clinical psychological outcomes, implementation challenges, and implications for clinicians are particularly welcome. While this Research Topic is focused on interventions aiming to reduce psychological distress and enhance well-being within clinical psychology, it welcomes research that spans a variety of clinical presentations and delivery contexts. Contributions may include, but are not limited to:• Evaluation of mindfulness- and compassion-based interventions for specific and transdiagnostic clinical populations• Investigation of resilience-building strategies and their impact on engagement, relapse prevention, and functional outcomes• Study of the underlying mechanisms by which compassion, mindfulness, and resilience exert their therapeutic effects• Assessment and comparison of clinician-delivered, digitally delivered, and blended interventions in real-world clinical settings• Exploration of self-compassion and adaptive coping processes in recovery and sustained well-being• Consideration of cultural, equity, safety, and ethical dimensions in implementing novel interventions• Methodological innovations optimizing scalability and relevance in clinical psychology Topic editors: Eirini Karakasidou, Barbara Colombo Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/83057/compassion-mindfulness-and-resilience-in-clinical-treatment---volume-ii
