Data Intelligence for Human-centred Healthcare 5.0
Healthcare 5.0 is an emerging paradigm that integrates intelligent digital technologies with human-centred, personalised, resilient, and sustainable healthcare. The rapid growth of electronic health records, medical images, genomic data, wearable sensors, Internet of Things devices, and clinical information systems creates new opportunities for data-driven decision-making while introducing challenges related to data heterogeneity, interoperability, privacy, security, and clinical translation. Recent advances in artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, multimodal analytics, edge and cloud computing, and distributed systems have demonstrated significant potential for early disease detection, risk prediction, personalised treatment, continuous monitoring, remote care, and healthcare process optimisation. However, important questions remain regarding the reliability, explainability, fairness, generalisability, energy efficiency, and real-world integration of these technologies. Further research is needed to develop trustworthy, interoperable, privacy-preserving, and clinically useful solutions that align technological innovation with the needs of patients and healthcare professionals. This Research Topic aims to advance data intelligence and new computing paradigms for Healthcare 5.0 by bringing together novel methods, algorithms, architectures, and validated applications. It will examine how complex and diverse healthcare data can be transformed into actionable, understandable, and clinically relevant knowledge. Particular attention will be given to predictive and prescriptive analytics, intelligent diagnosis, personalised and precision medicine, continuous health monitoring, clinical decision-support systems, and the optimisation of healthcare services. The Research Topic also seeks to address the responsible development and deployment of healthcare technologies by exploring explainability, privacy preservation, cybersecurity, interoperability, human–AI collaboration, sustainability, and equitable access. Contributions may investigate methodological innovations, evaluation frameworks, implementation challenges, or evidence of clinical and organisational impact. To gather further insights into data-driven, intelligent, and sustainable Healthcare 5.0, this Research Topic will focus on computational methods, digital infrastructures, healthcare applications, and human-centred deployment, while recognising limitations associated with data quality, validation, interoperability, regulatory requirements, and translation into routine practice.
