Diversity and Molecular Diagnostics of Fungi and Oomycetes in Plants - Volume II

Given the success of the Research Topic ‘Diversity and Molecular Diagnostics of Fungi and Oomycetes in Plants’ Volume I and the rapidly evolving subject area, we are pleased to announce the launch of Volume II.Fungi and oomycetes are essential yet contrasting players in agriculture — many are major plant pathogens, while others serve as valuable biological control agents. Understanding their diversity, taxonomy, and molecular biology is vital for improving plant health and achieving sustainable crop management.Recent advances in taxonomy, phylogeny, and multi-omics technologies have provided deeper insights into their evolution, host interactions, and ecological significance. Meanwhile, emerging molecular diagnostic tools such as PCR, DNA barcoding, LAMP, and CRISPR/Cas are transforming how we detect and monitor plant diseases, allowing faster and more accurate identification of pathogens. This Research Topic invites contributions that explore the biodiversity, molecular systematics, and diagnostics of fungi and oomycetes associated with plants. We welcome original research articles, reviews, and short communications on topics including:• Phylogeny and diversity of fungi and oomycetes• Morphological and molecular characterization of plant pathogens• Genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and epigenomics analyses• Innovations in molecular diagnostics and detection technologies Topic editors: Jia-Jia Chen, Yusufjon Gafforov, Manish Kumar Dubey, Ali Chenari Bouket Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/75639/diversity-and-molecular-diagnostics-of-fungi-and-oomycetes-in-plants---volume-ii
