Emerging Science, Trends, and Innovations in Genomic Analysis: Insights from the Brazilian Symposium on Bioinformatics
This Research Topic is in association with the 17th and 18th editions of the Brazilian Symposium on Bioinformatics (BSB 2024 and BSB 2025). These symposia brought together leading scientists, innovators, and young investigators dedicated to advancing the frontiers of computational biology and bioinformatics, with a special emphasis on genomic analysis. To gather further insights that capture both foundational methods and application-driven research, this Research Topic invites submissions spanning the latest computational and methodological advances from the wider field of bioinformatics to spark conversations and collaborations for the next symposium. We encourage rigorous methodological descriptions, benchmarking using community standards, and the sharing of reusable datasets, pipelines, and workflows in accordance with FAIR principles. Submissions will be handled by BSB organizers serving as Topic Editors, alongside domain-expert reviewers, ensuring high-quality and relevant contributions to the field. Please note that you do not have to have been in attendance to participate in this topic and that should you wish to contribute your research may be selected for further discussions or highlighting at BSB 2026.We welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:• Graph-based sequence analysis, pangenomics, and reference genome bias mitigation• Computational approaches for structural variant detection and genome-wide association studies• Metagenomics, microbiome profiling, and efficient MAG binning/classification• Deep learning, neural networks, and interpretable AI for genomic and multi-omics datasets• Functional and structural genome annotation, including proteogenomics and regulatory element prediction• Modeling and simulation of biological networks, pathways, and evolutionary processes• Integration and analysis of multi-omics and single-cell sequencing data• Public health and epidemiological applications of genomics, including pathogen surveillance• Network biology and systems approaches to understanding regulation and disease Topic editors: Marcelo Reis, Fabricio Martins Lopes, Daniel De Oliveira, KELE BELLOZE Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/78482/emerging-science-trends-and-innovations-in-genomic-analysis-insights-from-the-brazilian-symposium-on-bioinformatics
