Emerging Voices in Tuberculosis and Mycobacterial Disease
This Research Topic builds on Rising Stars in Tuberculosis and Mycobacterial Diseases: 2023 hereThe field of tuberculosis and mycobacterial diseases remains a critical area of biomedical research due to its global health impact and persistent challenges in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. Despite intensive efforts over past decades, tuberculosis continues to be one of the top infectious disease killers worldwide, and other mycobacterial diseases are increasingly recognized in both endemic and non-endemic regions.Recent years have witnessed remarkable advances—from innovative diagnostic techniques to new drug candidates and vaccine strategies—but significant gaps persist, especially regarding drug resistance, latent infections, and effective prevention strategies in diverse settings. Prevailing debates surround the optimization of treatment regimens, the integration of immunological insights into therapeutic interventions, and the implementation of surveillance frameworks tailored to shifting epidemiological landscapes. In this context, spotlighting the generation of talented researchers is essential for sustaining momentum and infusing the field with fresh perspectives. This Research Topic aims to celebrate and promote the work of scientists who are poised to shape the future of tuberculosis and mycobacterial disease research. It seeks to provide a platform for innovative approaches and solutions, foster collaboration, and amplify the voices of those tackling pressing scientific questions. By assembling high-quality contributions, the aim is to showcase the breadth of ongoing research, highlight novel discoveries, and inspire continued innovation necessary to combat mycobacterial diseases on a global scale. This Research Topic covers the broad spectrum of tuberculosis and mycobacterial disease research and to deepen our understanding and drive progress in this domain, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:• Diagnostic innovations and advances for tuberculosis and mycobacterial infections• New insights into the immunology of tuberculosis and other mycobacterial diseases• Biology and molecular mechanisms of mycobacterial pathogens and their host interactions• Therapeutic developments, including novel drug targets and treatment regimens• Epidemiological studies and analyses of disease trends• Vaccine development and evaluation• Strategies for disease prevention and surveillanceIf you are interested in submitting or have any questions please contact the journal email: tuberculosis@frontiersin.org Topic editors: Vishwanath Venketaraman, Seyed Ehtesham HASNAIN Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/79655/emerging-voices-in-tuberculosis-and-mycobacterial-disease
