Empowering Cancer Care: The Power of Nutrition and Fitness from Prevention to Recovery, Volume II
Cancer remains one of the leading global health challenges, with prevention, treatment, and survivorship requiring a multidimensional approach. Growing evidence highlights the critical role of nutrition and physical fitness in reducing cancer risk, enhancing treatment efficacy, and improving both short- and long-term outcomes. Proper nutrition and physical activity can help reduce inflammation, oxidative stress, and metabolic dysfunction while also improving immune function. However, these lifestyle factors remain underutilized in standard cancer care. Understanding and optimizing the interplay between diet, exercise, and cancer pathways is essential for empowering the general population, patients, and healthcare professionals in the prevention and management of cancer. This Research Topic aims to explore the pivotal role of nutrition and physical fitness across the cancer care continuum—from prevention to survivorship. We seek to address key questions such as how dietary patterns and physical activity influence cancer risk, how they can be effectively integrated into treatment protocols, and their impact on patient recovery and long-term health. By bridging the gap between research and clinical application, we aim to promote evidence-based lifestyle interventions that enhance prevention, strengthen patient resilience, reduce recurrence, and improve overall well-being.We welcome original research, reviews, clinical trials, and perspective articles focusing on the intersection of nutrition, exercise, and cancer care. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:• The role of diet and physical activity in cancer prevention.• Nutritional strategies during cancer treatment to improve patient outcomes.• Exercise interventions for managing cancer-related fatigue and treatment side effects.• The impact of metabolic health (e.g., obesity, metabolic syndrome) on cancer risk and progression.• Personalized nutrition and fitness approaches based on cancer type and patient demographics.• Mechanistic studies on how diet and exercise influence cancer biology.• Public health strategies and policy implications for integrating lifestyle interventions into oncology care. This is Volume II of a series of Research Topics, Empowering Cancer Care: The Power of Nutrition and Fitness from Prevention to Recovery Topic editors: Irene Lidoriki, Maximos Frountzas, DIMITRIOS SCHIZAS, Panagiotis Sakarellos Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/86894/empowering-cancer-care-the-power-of-nutrition-and-fitness-from-prevention-to-recovery-volume-ii
