Enhancing Cybersecurity and Efficiency in Smart Grid Technologies
Smart grids are transforming how electricity is generated, distributed, and consumed, integrating renewable energy sources, advanced sensing, and digital communication to improve efficiency and reliability. However, this increased connectivity also exposes power systems to a growing range of cyber threats, from data breaches to attacks that could disrupt grid operation and stability. Ensuring the security of smart grid infrastructure while maintaining high performance and efficiency has become a central challenge for researchers and industry alike. This Research Topic welcomes contributions addressing the dual challenge of cybersecurity and efficiency in smart grid technologies. We invite studies on threat detection and mitigation strategies, secure communication protocols, resilient control architectures, and risk assessment frameworks for smart grid systems. We also welcome research on how security measures can be designed to complement, rather than compromise, energy efficiency and system performance.Topics of interest include but are not limited to:o Cybersecurity threat detection and intrusion prevention in smart gridso Secure communication and data protection for grid infrastructureo Resilient and fault-tolerant control strategies under cyberattack scenarioso Risk assessment and vulnerability analysis of smart grid systemso Integration of AI and machine learning for grid security and efficiencyo Balancing security measures with system performance and energy efficiencyo Case studies and real-world implementations of secure smart grid solutionsWe welcome Original Research, Reviews, and Perspective articles from researchers across academia and industry working at the intersection of cybersecurity, power systems, and smart grid technologies.
