Exploring the Pharmacological Landscape of Mpox Treatment: From Entry Point to End Point

This Research Topic aims to explore the comprehensive pharmacological landscape of Mpox treatment, emphasizing both current therapeutic strategies and emerging interventions. Given the rapid progression in antiviral research propelled by Emergency Use Authorizations (EUAs), this collection seeks to highlight how these expedited processes have accelerated the study of antiviral drugs for Mpox.Contributions are encouraged that evaluate the efficacy and safety of existing antiviral medications under EUA, providing insights into their real-world application. We invite submissions that delve into novel pharmacological discoveries, exploring innovative drugs from initial virus entry to the eventual resolution of infection. This Research Topic will address:1. Current Therapeutics: Detailed evaluations of antiviral drugs currently in use, assessing their effectiveness and safety profiles.2. Novel Discoveries: Insights into new pharmacological agents in development, including their mechanisms of action and potential to change the treatment landscape.3. Clinical Trials and Mechanistic Studies: Studies that provide empirical evidence from clinical trials, as well as mechanistic insights into how these antivirals interact with the virus at various stages of the infection process.4. Challenges in Drug Development: Overcoming obstacles in the drug development pipeline, including resistance issues and the need for rapid deployment strategies.5. Next-Generation Therapies: Reviews and perspectives on the future of Mpox treatment, focusing on innovative approaches and technology-driven solutions.6. Interaction with Comorbid Treatments: Examination of how prior antiviral therapies for conditions like HIV/AIDS interact with Mpox-directed treatments and influence patient outcomes.By compiling this collection, we aim to enhance the scientific community's understanding of Mpox pharmacotherapy and guide future research directions toward more effective and safe treatments.
