Eye movement tracking and dynamic vision in clinical diagnosis and disease management
Eye movement analysis is an essential tool in understanding and diagnosing a wide range of ocular, neurological, and mental disorders. Vital movements such as fixations, smooth pursuits, saccades, and vestibulo-ocular reflexes shape our dynamic vision and daily functioning. Recent research underscores how abnormalities in these patterns correlate with disease symptoms and progression. While technologies for eye tracking are advancing, challenges remain in standardizing, automating, and integrating these assessments into clinical practice, and the relationships between eye movement patterns and disease characteristics require further clarification. This Research Topic aims to collect innovative works and summaries addressing how eye movement tracking and dynamic vision assessment can improve disease diagnosis, evaluation, and management. The goal is to highlight new technologies, promote the standardization of assessment methods, and encourage the use of eye movement tracking across a broader range of conditions. The focus is on clinically oriented studies and approaches with clear translational benefit. To gather further insights in this area, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:- New developments in eye movement tracking technologies- Diagnostic and prognostic use of eye tracking in ocular diseases- Eye movement analysis in neurological and psychiatric disorders- Methods for standardization and automation of eye tracking- Integrating eye movement assessment in clinical workflows Topic editors: Yafei Wang, Chang Yaramothu Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/83491/eye-movement-tracking-and-dynamic-vision-in-clinical-diagnosis-and-disease-management
