FAIR2 Data: Frontiers in Physics

Physics generates vast amounts of data - simulation outputs, experimental measurements, sensor readings, calibrations - that often ends up in supplementary files or personal archives with inconsistent metadata, unusable by others and uncredited to the researchers who produced it. Funders increasingly require FAIR-aligned data management.Frontiers’ FAIR2 Data Management provides a publishing route that meets this requirement while giving datasets full scholarly credit. Building on FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable), FAIR2 adds AI-readiness, ethical governance, and structured validation. Each submission is a peer-reviewed, citable publication focused on a single dataset, paired with an interactive data portal offering live notebooks and visualization tools. Full details can be found on the webpage: FAIR2 Data ManagementThis Research Topic invites FAIR² Data submissions from across the full scope of Frontiers in Physics, including but not limited to:- Condensed matter, soft matter, and complex physical systems datasets- Atomic, molecular, chemical, and plasma physics data- High-energy, astroparticle, nuclear, and accelerator physics data- Optics, photonics, and quantum engineering and technology datasets- Biophysics and medical physics/imaging datasets- Fluid dynamics, acoustics, and radiation detection/imaging data- Statistical and computational datasets, including simulation and modeling outputs- Social physics datasetsPeer review assesses data quality, metadata completeness, and reuse potential.Note: This Research Topic is open for submission of FAIR2 Data Articles only.
