Functional Nanomaterials for Electrochemical and Photoelectrochemical Sensing: From Interfaces to Flexible Devices
Chemical sensing sits at the core of environmental monitoring, food safety, clinical diagnostics, and point-of-care testing. Progress increasingly depends on the interplay between engineered nanomaterials (carbon nanomaterials, conductive polymers, metal nanoparticles, ionic-liquid composites) and the electrochemical or photoelectrochemical interfaces they build. At the same time, the field is moving from rigid, lab-bound electrodes toward flexible, wearable, and miniaturized devices that demand new understanding of charge transfer across soft-matter interfaces and new approaches to analytical instrumentation. This Research Topic brings together advances that connect fundamental interfacial phenomena with practical sensing performance — spanning material design, mechanistic understanding, device engineering, and real-world validation.Scope and themes.
