Future Intelligent Social Ecosystems: Trust, Security, AI and Human Dynamics
The rapid evolution of intelligent digital environments has created increasingly complex social ecosystems where human interactions are mediated by intelligent algorithms, connected devices, and decentralized infrastructures. While these ecosystems offer unprecedented opportunities for communication, collaboration, and automation, they also introduce significant challenges related to trust, safety, security, misinformation, abusive behavior, privacy risks, malicious automation, and algorithmic bias. Existing research often addresses these concerns in isolation, with limited interdisciplinary understanding of how emerging technologies and human behavior interact to influence resilient and trustworthy digital societies. This Research Topic aims to advance interdisciplinary research on AI-driven trust, safety, security, and human dynamics in future intelligent social ecosystems, with particular interest in how these developments are affecting individuals and society. Particular emphasis is placed on human-centered, explainable, ethical, and resilient approaches to understanding emerging paradigms such as intelligent cyber-social systems, decentralized trust mechanisms, connected social ecosystems, and next-generation secure digital infrastructures. The Research Topic welcomes interdisciplinary contributions exploring trust, safety, security, and human dynamics in future intelligent social ecosystems shaped by intelligent digital technologies and connected environments. The scope includes, but is not limited to, the impact of the following themes upon people:• AI-driven trust and safety mechanisms• Abusive language and harmful behavior detection• Misinformation and malicious social activities• Cyber-social security• Privacy-preserving systems• Explainable and trustworthy AI• Human-centered moderation frameworks• Behavioral analytics• Platform governance and ethical challenges in intelligent digital ecosystems• Decentralized trust architectures using blockchain• Quantum-enabled or quantum-safe security• Intelligent social systems• Connected environments• Social IoT (SIoT)We welcome original research articles, systematic reviews, case studies, methodological papers, perspectives, and interdisciplinary studies presenting theoretical, empirical, computational, or application-oriented advances relevant to the impact of future secure and trustworthy digital social ecosystems on individuals and society.
