Gibberellins in Focus: General Insights and Modern Plant Resilience
Gibberellins (GAs) play diverse and essential roles as plant hormones, regulating key aspects of plant growth, development, and adaptation to stressful environments. Recent research continues to reveal new functions for GAs across developmental stages, from influencing seed germination and stem elongation to modulating flowering, fruit development, and responses to both abiotic and biotic stresses. This Research Topic invites contributions that expand our understanding of GA biology, with special attention to how GAs enhance plant resilience and productivity in modern agriculture. Studies may explore molecular and physiological mechanisms, regulatory pathways, hormone crosstalk, and innovative approaches for manipulating GA signaling to optimize crop performance under changing and challenging conditions. Investigations utilizing advanced techniques—such as mutant analysis, grafting, omics strategies, and precision breeding—are especially welcome for uncovering novel aspects of GA-mediated stress responses and growth control. We invite articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes: • Novel insights into GA biosynthesis, transport, and signaling. • Integration of GA pathways with other hormonal and metabolic networks. • GA roles in adaptive development and stress tolerance mechanisms. • Strategies for the strategic manipulation of GA pathways for crop improvement and resilience. • Applications of GA biology in sustainable crop management and resistance breeding. • Methodological advances (including molecular, physiological, and/or computational approaches) for studying GA function. This collection seeks to foster a broader view of gibberellin biology in contemporary plant science, driving innovations for the future of plant resilience and agricultural sustainability.
