Green Catalysis and Sustainable Fuels: Advances in Hydrogen Production, CO₂ Conversion and Biomass Valorization

Catalysis plays a central role in producing low-carbon hydrogen and sustainable fuels, converting CO₂ into useful products, and making better use of biomass and residual feedstocks. Progress in these areas depends on catalysts that combine activity and selectivity with durability, as well as processes that can be assessed and scaled responsibly.Associated with the 18th Panhellenic Symposium of Catalysis, this Research Topic welcomes contributions from symposium participants and researchers worldwide. It aims to bring together recent advances and remaining challenges in catalyst development, reaction engineering, and the integration of catalytic processes for sustainable fuel production.Topics of interest include:• Catalytic routes to hydrogen production from renewable and residual feedstocks;• CO₂ conversion to fuels and chemicals, including hydrogenation and related processes;• Catalytic valorization of biomass, bio-oils, and waste-derived feedstocks;• Production and upgrading of biofuels and synthetic fuels;• Electrocatalytic and photocatalytic routes relevant to sustainable fuel production;• Catalyst stability, deactivation, regeneration, and reaction mechanisms;• Reactor and process design, modelling, and environmental or techno-economic assessment.Submissions building on work presented at the symposium are welcome, provided they meet the journal’s requirements for originality and make a substantial contribution beyond any previously published conference material. The Topic Editors are involved in the organization of the 18th Panhellenic Symposium of Catalysis.
