Health Education and Health Promotion in Childhood and Adolescent Care
Health education and promotion in childhood and adolescent care are essential for shaping lifelong health behaviors and improving population health outcomes. The early childhood years are a critical period for physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development. During this time, children develop health-related knowledge, attitudes, and practices. Effective strategies for health education and promotion during this period can prevent disease, reduce health inequalities, and promote the development of healthy, resilient individuals. However, disparities in access to quality childhood and adolescent care, education, and health resources persist across and within countries, underscoring the need for comprehensive, context-sensitive approaches. To address these challenges, this research topic aims to compile high-quality contributions that expand our understanding of health education and health promotion in childhood and adolescent care settings. This collection will provide a platform for interdisciplinary research examining current practices, evaluating interventions, and identifying innovative strategies to enhance child and adolescent health and well-being. By synthesizing existing evidence and highlighting emerging trends, this collection will contribute to the development of effective, equitable, and sustainable health promotion approaches from early childhood to adolescence. We invite authors to submit original research, reviews, and perspectives exploring a broad range of topics, including, but not limited to, the following:• Theoretical frameworks and models that underpin health education and health promotion in childhood care and adolescence• The development and evaluation of health education programs targeting children, adolescents, caregivers, and educators• The role of family, community, and educational settings in shaping children and adolescent’s health behaviors and outcomes• Social, cultural, environmental, and economic determinants that influence health promotion in childhood and adolescence• Interventions aimed at promoting nutrition, physical activity, mental health, hygiene, and the prevention of communicable and non-communicable diseases• Use of digital tools, media, and innovative technologies to support health education in childhood and adolescence• Policies and systems that either support or hinder the implementation of effective health promotion strategies in childcare settings• Training and capacity building for educators and healthcare professionals involved in childhood and adolescent care• Equity-focused approaches that address vulnerable and underserved child and adolescents populations Topic editors: Fernanda Loureiro, Fátima Frade, Ana Lúcia Ramos Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/79996/health-education-and-health-promotion-in-childhood-and-adolescent-care
