Health, Performance, and Nutrition in Exercise and Sport
The multifaceted relationship between physical activity, training science, and nutrition is a fundamental determinant in both preventing chronic diseases and maximizing athletic performance. Contemporary sports science has evolved into a holistic discipline that aims not only to enhance performance but also to safeguard athlete health and improve the overall quality of life across all populations. Integrating innovative training methodologies with evidence-based nutritional strategies optimizes physiological adaptations and accelerates recovery processes. Moreover, the synergistic effects of exercise and diet in meeting the metabolic demands of modern training models and addressing health challenges associated with sedentary lifestyles remain central themes of scientific inquiry. This Research Topic seeks to gather the latest research and clinical applications across exercise physiology, training science, sports nutrition, and public health. Our aim is to provide a platform for both mechanistic and applied studies that bridge the gap between laboratory findings and real-world practice. In this context, we invite contributions addressing (but not limited to) the following themes and related areas: • Acute and chronic effects of various training models (e.g., HIIT, resistance, endurance) and nutritional protocols on metabolic health. • Training periodization and nutritional strategies for performance enhancement in elite and recreational athletes. • The role of nutrition in training load monitoring, performance analysis, and fatigue management. • Efficacy, safety, and practical implementation of ergogenic aids and supplements. • Nutrient-training interactions related to exercise-induced oxidative stress, inflammation, and immune function. • Biomechanical approaches, training adaptations, and nutritional support in injury prevention and rehabilitation. • Physical activity prescriptions and nutritional interventions tailored for different age groups and special populations (e.g., diabetes, obesity). We look forward to receiving your original research articles and comprehensive reviews that will further advance knowledge and application in this field. Please ensure that your manuscript is aligned with both the scope of this Research Topic and the scope of the journal to which it is submitted.
