Immunomics: dynamics of circulating vesicles in the immune regulatory networks
Immunomics explores the regulation of the immune system by leveraging emerging omics sciences to decipher the intricate immune landscape of diseases. A key aspect of this field is understanding the role of circulating vesicles—such as extracellular vesicles (EVs) and exosomes—as mediators of immune communication. These vesicles serve as carriers of molecular signals, facilitating cross-talk between immune cells and shaping immune responses. Circulating vesicles play a pivotal role in orchestrating immunity, yet the downstream effects of their molecular cargo require further elucidation. Multi-omics approaches can uncover mechanisms behind antimicrobial resistance, immune-related disorders, and emerging infectious diseases. Integrating genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics can provide critical insights into how circulating vesicles influence pathogen-host interactions, modulate inflammatory and autoimmune pathways, and contribute to immune homeostasis within the cell environment.Thereby, high-dimensional immunomics data and advanced computational modeling can help to unravel the dynamic interactions within immune regulatory networks and identify novel immune targets and therapeutic strategies. Investigating the functional significance of circulating vesicles can enhance our ability to interpret high-throughput datasets to understand the immune regulation and its interactions with the surrounding environment, refine predictive models, and translate findings into clinical and translational applications. This Research Topic welcomes the submission of manuscripts with a leading direction on the systems immunology and the omics view.
