Incretin-Based Therapeutics and Emerging Gut Hormone Mechanisms
Incretin-related therapies are reshaping metabolic medicine, highlighting the importance of gut hormone signaling, receptor dynamics, and multi organ communication. As next generation agents, including dual and multi-agonists enter clinical and preclinical development, there is growing interest in understanding their mechanisms, extra - pancreatic actions, and factors influencing efficacy and tolerability. This Research Topic invites work that advances fundamental and translational insights into gut hormone pathways and their therapeutic potential. Submissions may explore receptor signaling and trafficking, organ specific responses, metabolic and non-metabolic effects, and the influence of diet, drug exposure, or microbiota on gut endocrine function.Potential themes include but not limited to:• Signaling, trafficking, and bias of incretin and related gut hormone receptors• Actions of mono- and poly-agonists across organs such as liver, pancreas, brain, adipose, and bone• Mechanistic drivers of therapeutic efficacy, safety, and tolerability• Crosstalk between gut endocrine pathways and whole-body physiology• Translational studies connecting mechanistic findings to clinical application Topic editors: Nigel Irwin Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/76600/incretin-based-therapeutics-and-emerging-gut-hormone-mechanisms
