Insights into Optical, Electronic, and Magnetic Properties of Low-Dimensional Materials for Nanodevice Applications

For decades now, the science and engineering community has put in relentless effort into both discovering nanomaterials and understanding their fundamental properties for promising device applications. Nevertheless, there are still several unanswered questions whose answers will have long-lasting implications on the upcoming technologies based on novel, low-dimensional materials.The goal of this Research Topic is to collect and disseminate articles attempting to solve and address key challenges by answering some of the major questions pertaining to this persistently growing field of low-dimensional materials. In so doing, the obtained insights will help guide further research in the field of nanotechnology in the right direction. This could look like anything ranging from fundamental understanding of nanomaterials for reliable fabrication of nanodevices based on the subject materials to their actual device measurements.Original Research articles reporting groundbreaking optical, electronic, or magnetic properties of nanomaterials for nanodevice applications are especially welcome. Nonetheless, since the performance of any device is strongly dictated by its surface, authoritative Reviews and Perspectives elucidating a significant conceptual advance concerning the surface (or interface) science of the nanomaterials are also solicited.
