Integrated Molecular Neuropathology of Brain Tumors: From Mechanisms to Therapeutic Targets

The molecular understanding of brain tumors has undergone a profound transformation in recent years. Advances in genomics, epigenomics, and transcriptomics are redefining traditional neuropathological concepts and revealing the complexity of tumor heterogeneity, evolution, and therapeutic resistance. This Research Topic aims to highlight how integrated molecular profiling is reshaping the diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic landscape of central nervous system (CNS) tumors. We invite contributions that bridge neuropathology and molecular neuroscience, emphasizing the translational relevance of recent discoveries.Topics of interest include studies and reviews exploring:- The molecular and epigenetic mechanisms driving gliomas, medulloblastomas, and other CNS neoplasms;- How methylation and multi-omics analyses refine tumor classification and risk stratification;- Novel biomarkers and pathways linked to prognosis, progression, or response to therapy;- Molecular correlates of histopathological patterns and microenvironmental interactions;- Innovative technologies and computational approaches for integrated molecular diagnostics.By connecting cellular mechanisms to diagnostic practice and therapeutic innovation, this collection seeks to promote an integrated view of brain tumor biology and to support the translation of molecular insights into clinical neuro-oncology.
