Integration of Next-Generation Technologies with Biosensors for Advanced Diagnostics and Personalized Medicine – Volume II

Biosensors and biomolecular electronics have become increasingly vital in the advancement of biomedical diagnostics, healthcare monitoring, and the development of personalized medicine. The recent convergence of these fields with next-generation technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, the Internet of Things, advanced analytics, and distributed computing, has ushered in unprecedented opportunities and complex challenges. Despite the proliferation of more sensitive and accessible devices, pressing questions persist regarding sensor accuracy, robustness in variable environments, secure and efficient data management, and seamless integration of multifaceted technological layers. Significant studies in the past few years have highlighted successes, particularly in wearable continuous monitoring, AI-driven predictive diagnostics, and decentralized, securely managed health data. However, issues such as the miniaturization of biosensor platforms, maintaining biocompatibility, addressing ethical and regulatory barriers, and achieving full interoperability with digital infrastructures remain inadequately resolved. This Research Topic aims to inspire and gather forward-thinking research on the integration of biosensors and biomolecular electronics with emerging digital technologies for transformative progress in biomedicine. Research is encouraged that presents innovative solutions to current technological bottlenecks, explores novel sensing and transduction mechanisms, proposes frameworks for overcoming data security and ethical challenges, or pioneers integration strategies. Contributions should critically assess and answer key questions about improving biosensor accuracy, boosting sensor and material compatibility, ensuring privacy via secure data transmission, and demonstrating benefits brought by technological convergence in the future of diagnostics and individualized care.To gather further insights at the intersection of biosensing and next-generation digital technologies, the focus will be limited to biomedical and healthcare diagnostics, excluding unrelated industrial or environmental biosensing applications.
