Integrative Cancer Genomics, Transcriptomics, Proteomics, and Metabolomics: Bridging Molecular Mechanisms to Precision Oncology

The rapid evolution of advanced molecular profiling technologies has transformed cancer research, enabling comprehensive profiling at genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolomic levels. Integrative analyses across these molecular layers provide unprecedented insights into tumor heterogeneity, signaling pathways, and microenvironmental interactions. Such multi-omics approaches are pivotal for uncovering novel biomarkers, elucidating mechanisms of drug resistance, and informing precision oncology strategies. Despite these advances, translating complex multi-omics data into actionable clinical interventions remains a key challenge, highlighting the need for studies that connect molecular mechanisms to therapeutic outcomes. This Research Topic aims to showcase cutting-edge research that integrates genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics to deepen understanding of cancer biology and accelerate the development of personalized treatment strategies. We invite studies that employ multi-omics approaches to identify novel diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers, reveal mechanistic insights into tumor progression, and support precision medicine initiatives. Both experimental and computational investigations, including bioinformatic pipelines, multi-omics integration methods, and translational studies, are encouraged. This collection invites submissions that advance the understanding of cancer through integrative multi-omics approaches, encompassing genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. Authors are encouraged to submit work that:- Provides mechanistic insights into tumor biology, identifies novel diagnostic or prognostic biomarkers, or informs precision oncology strategies, in the form of original research articles.- Introduces innovative computational pipelines, analytical frameworks, or experimental techniques for multi-omics integration, as methodological papers.- Synthesizes recent advances in multi-omics cancer research and highlights their translational relevance, through reviews or perspectives.Submissions should emphasize how integrating molecular layers contributes to mechanistic understanding, clinical applications, or therapeutic development. Please note: manuscripts consisting solely of bioinformatics, computational analysis, or predictions of public databases which are not accompanied by validation (independent clinical or patient cohort, or biological validation in vitro or in vivo, which are not based on public databases) are not suitable for publication in this Research Topic.
