Integrative clinical, molecular, and bioinformatic approaches to neurological disorders: insights for precision medicine.
Neurological disorders are highly heterogeneous, both clinically and genetically, which makes accurate diagnosis and classification a persistent challenge. Advances in clinical phenotyping, molecular testing, and bioinformatic analysis have each progressed rapidly in recent years, yet these approaches are frequently developed and applied in isolation. Bringing them together offers a powerful opportunity to refine disease classification, strengthen gene–disease associations, improve variant interpretation, accelerate biomarker discovery, and support more precise patient stratification. Integrating clinical and molecular data is also key to translating research findings into individualized diagnosis and management strategies that directly benefit patients. This Research Topic aims to bring together original research, reviews, and methodological contributions that advance the integration of clinical and molecular approaches in neurological disorders. We welcome submissions addressing, but not limited to, the following areas:-Clinical phenotyping and classification of neurological disorders-Molecular diagnosis using genomic and multi-omic approaches-Gene–disease association and genotype–phenotype correlation-Bioinformatic methods for variant interpretation and biomarker discovery-Functional studies of disease-associated genes and variants-Integration of clinical and molecular data for precision diagnosis and treatmentWe encourage contributions from clinicians, geneticists, bioinformaticians, and basic researchers working across these domains. By fostering dialogue between disciplines, this Research Topic seeks to advance the field toward more accurate, timely, and individualized care for patients with neurological disorders.
