International Women's Day 2026: Enabling Women’s Reproductive Choice through Access and Innovation
Women’s ability to make informed, voluntary decisions about their reproductive health depends on access to high-quality care, supportive policy, and continued innovation. This Research Topic, “Enabling Women’s Reproductive Choice through Access and Innovation,” brings together interdisciplinary research on how health systems, technologies, and social environments can strengthen reproductive autonomy across diverse settings. We welcome contributions on barriers to reproductive healthcare, including affordability, geographic availability, stigma, discrimination, and gaps in provider training. Submissions may examine how legal and policy frameworks shape access to contraception, fertility services, abortion care where permitted, preconception and perinatal care, and post-partum support. We also encourage studies on innovations that improve delivery and decision-making, such as telehealth models, community-based care pathways, digital decision aids, point-of-care diagnostics, and new contraceptive or fertility technologies. This collection centers equity, recognizing differences in access and outcomes by income, ethnicity, disability, migration status, age, and rurality. We invite original research, systematic reviews, implementation studies, and policy analyses that identify what works, for whom, and under which conditions.
