Lab on a Chip Biosensors for Ultra Sensitive Cardiac Biomarker Detection

This Research Topic explores the development and integration of advanced lab on a chip technologies for the rapid, ultrasensitive, and multiplexed detection of cardiac biomarkers, such as cardiac troponin T (cTnT), which are pivotal for the early diagnosis and management of acute myocardial infarction and other cardiovascular conditions. In addition to analytical sensitivity and assay performance, this topic will highlight how such technologies can be incorporated into patient management pathways, including emergency department triage, rule in and rule out strategies, risk stratification, and near patient testing.By leveraging microfluidics, novel sensing materials including conducting polymers, nanocomposites, and molecularly imprinted polymers, alongside advanced fabrication and signal amplification methods, researchers aim to deliver robust point of care diagnostic solutions that rival traditional laboratory techniques in performance and reliability. Contributions are particularly encouraged where biosensor development is linked to clinical utility, workflow integration, decision making, and the potential for these platforms to improve patient care and influence clinical practice in cardiovascular diagnostics.
