Leveraging Cell-Free DNA and Novel Biomarkers for Early and Accurate Sepsis Diagnosis Volume II

Sepsis remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, with timely diagnosis being crucial for improved patient outcomes. Traditional diagnostic methods often lack sensitivity and specificity, leading to delayed or inappropriate treatment. Cell-free DNA (cfDNA) and emerging molecular biomarkers have shown promising potential as non-invasive, rapid, and accurate tools for early sepsis detection and prognostication.Following the success of Volume I, this second volume continues to explore recent advances in the identification, quantification, and clinical utility of cfDNA and novel biomarkers in sepsis diagnosis. It welcomes further studies exploring how cfDNA and other innovative biomarkers are transforming the landscape of sepsis diagnostics, building on the foundation established in the first volume. Moreover, studies highlighting future research areas and clinical implementation opportunities are sought. We welcome original research, reviews, mini-reviews, methods and perspectives on the following:- Mechanisms and sources of cfDNA in septic patients- Diagnostic and prognostic value of cfDNA compared to conventional markers- Discovery and validation of novel biomarkers for sepsis- Integration of biomarker panels and machine learning for improved diagnostic accuracy- Translational and clinical studies evaluating the implementation of cfDNA-based assays in clinical workflows- Challenges, limitations, and future directions in the use of molecular biomarkers for sepsis Topic editors: Aditya Kumar Sharma, Sukalyani Banik Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/85140/leveraging-cell-free-dna-and-novel-biomarkers-for-early-and-accurate-sepsis-diagnosis-volume-ii
