Management of Orthopedic Deformities in Rare Bone Disorders
Orthopedic deformities present significant clinical challenges in individuals with rare bone disorders, affecting both children and adults. These deformities can severely impact mobility, contribute to chronic pain, and reduce overall quality of life. The management of such conditions requires a comprehensive understanding of surgical and pharmacological interventions, often necessitating collaboration between orthopedic and pediatric surgeons to ensure optimal care across the lifespan. This Research Topic aims to gather current research that explores innovative approaches and evidence-based practices for managing orthopedic deformities associated with rare bone disorders in both children and adults. Our primary goal is to compile a diverse range of articles that enhance understanding and improve treatment strategies for orthopedic deformities. By fostering interdisciplinary knowledge sharing between pediatric and adult surgical specialties, we seek to provide the scientific community with valuable insights that can improve clinical outcomes and quality of life for affected patients. We welcome manuscripts addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:- Novel surgical techniques and interventions for deformities in children and adults- Pharmacological treatment strategies and their effectiveness across age groups- Long-term outcomes and impacts on patient quality of life from childhood through adulthood- The roles of genetic and environmental factors in the development of orthopedic deformities- Emerging and age-specific evidence-based practices for managing orthopedic deformities- Multidisciplinary surgical and perioperative care approachesWe seek a variety of manuscript types, including original research articles, comprehensive reviews, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, case reports and brief communications, commentaries on current issues in the field. We anticipate your contributions to this vital area of research. By working together across specialties, we can advance clinical outcomes and improve quality of life for both children and adults with orthopedic deformities associated with rare bone disorders.
