Modeling Cellular Plasticity in Osteosarcoma Using Advanced In Vitro Systems
This Research Topic would aim to bring together work exploring how advanced in vitro systems can be used to study cellular plasticity in osteosarcoma. The focus would be on the dynamic cell-state transitions that underlie tumor heterogeneity, progression, and therapy response, and on the experimental platforms that make these processes tractable to mechanistic study.A central theme would be the use of three-dimensional culture systems, including spheroids and organoids, to capture aspects of tumor architecture and cellular interactions that are lost in conventional 2D models. The Topic would also welcome contributions on microfluidic and millifluidic platforms, which allow controlled analysis of dynamic cell behaviors, alongside single-cell and live-cell approaches that follow plasticity in real time.Beyond the platforms themselves, the scope would extend to the biological mechanisms driving plasticity, including stem-like states, dedifferentiation, and lineage transitions, together with the epigenetic and transcriptional programs that govern cell-state dynamics.Topics of interest could include:In vitro modeling of cellular plasticity and state transitionsThree-dimensional culture systems (e.g., spheroids, organoids) for studying tumor cell heterogeneityMicrofluidic and millifluidic platforms enabling controlled analysis of dynamic cell behaviorsStem-like states, dedifferentiation, and lineage plasticity in osteosarcomaEpigenetic and transcriptional regulation of cell-state dynamicsSingle-cell and live-cell approaches applied to advanced in vitro systems Topic editors: Margherita Cortini, Javier Munoz Garcia Source: https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/81624/modeling-cellular-plasticity-in-osteosarcoma-using-advanced-in-vitro-systems
