Modulators of NF-κB in Experimental Pharmacology: Recent Updates and Perspectives
Nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB) is a key regulator of immune responses, inflammation, cell proliferation, and cell survival. Dysregulation and persistent activation of the NF-κB pathway are linked to the development and progression of a wide range of diseases, including cancer, autoimmune and neurodegenerative disorders, as well as chronic inflammatory diseases. This makes NF-κB, along with its regulatory network, an increasingly important focus in experimental pharmacology and drug discovery. With this Research Topic, we seek to highlight the latest developments in the search for effective NF-κB modulators. Studies addressing novel small molecules, natural products, biologics, and gene-editing strategies that target this pathway are of particular interest. We encourage the submission of original research, reviews, and perspective articles on topics such as:o The discovery of new NF-κB modulators and regulatory mechanismso Molecular and cellular profiling of NF-κB-targeting compoundso Advances in experimental models for studying NF-κB activity and pharmacodynamicso Assessment of the therapeutic potential of NF-κB modulation in preclinical disease modelso Exploration of challenges and opportunities for translating NF-κB modulation into clinical practiceBy assembling a diverse range of studies and viewpoints, this Research Topic aims to deepen our understanding of NF-κB’s multifaceted role in human health and disease. We hope it will also illuminate novel approaches for targeting this pathway and inspire the development of innovative therapies. We invite your contributions that address recent progress, ongoing questions, and emerging directions in the pharmacological modulation of NF-κB for treating various diseases.
