Neuroscience and Therapeutic Advances in Mental Disorders
Mental disorders have been getting more and more attention due to their increasing prevalence. With significant research advances in the epidemiology and pathophysiology of mental disorders, there are increasing therapeutic approaches/interventions available for managing patients with mental disorders. This research topic aims to update the current advances in basic and clinical research on mental disorders exploring the neurobiological correlates and diagnostic biomarkers of them, while focusing on alternative interventions available for managing patients with mental disorders. We welcome submissions across diverse disciplines including psychology, neuroscience, and psychiatry. Basic and clinical studies using experimental, longitudinal, interventional, or cross-cultural methods are particularly encouraged.Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: Studies with animal models of mental disorders to explore pathogenetic factors/pathogenesis of the diseases. Translational studies exploring therapeutic effects and the underlying neurobiological mechanisms of alternative interventions including phytomedicines and non-invasive physical treatments. Human studies analyzing impacts of sociodemographic factors on the prevalence of mental disorders and exploring diagnostic biomarkers of mental disorders. Clinical studies examining therapeutic effects of alternative interventions including phytomedicines and non-invasive physical therapies currently available for patients with mental disorders and explore the underlying neurobiological correlates.
