Nonlinear Dynamics of Coupled Systems and Nonlinear Signal Processing Techniques

In modern Mechanical Engineering, coupled systems ranging from electromechanical and fluid-structure interactions to multi-physics and networked control systems exhibit increasingly complex behaviors that challenge traditional linear analysis methods. The emergence of nonlinear dynamics (periodic motions, bifurcations, chaos) and nonlinear signal processing techniques (including stochastic resonance-based weak signal enhancement methods, and nonlinear system identification methods, etc.) has opened new avenues for understanding, diagnosing, and optimizing these systems. Such nonlinear phenomena and methodologies, when properly harnessed, offer transformative potential for energy harvesting, fault diagnosis, image recognition, health monitoring, and other engineering applications. This Special Issue in Frontiers in Mechanical Engineering seeks to collect cutting-edge research contributions at the intersection of nonlinear dynamics, nonlinear signal processing techniques, and practical engineering applications. Particular emphasis is placed on theoretical advancements in bifurcation and chaos analysis, stochastic resonance-based weak signal enhancement, nonlinear identification methods, and their deployment in fault diagnosis, image recognition, and related fields. Submissions of both original research articles and comprehensive review papers are warmly welcomed.Thematic scope encompasses, though is not restricted to, the following areas:1.
