Pioneering Paths in Endovascular Aortic Repair: Predicting Trends and Overcoming Challenges

Endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) has emerged as a transformative procedure in vascular surgery, promising less invasive solutions for aortic aneurysm repairs. Despite its appealing potential, several challenges remain, especially concerning the longevity and sustainability. For example, management and prevention of complications like type II endoleaks (T2EL), is still discussed controversially. Current research focuses on innovative methods such as sac embolization and the utilization of advanced imaging technologies, promising insights into improving the procedure's efficacy and patient outcomes. While the gains are evident, the continuous evolution necessitates a deeper understanding of these advancements and identifies areas needing further exploration. This Research Topic aims to investigate the potential impacts of emerging techniques in EVAR, focusing on the reduction of associated complications and the improvement of long-term results for patients. Specifically, it attempts to anticipate future directions in the field by evaluating the effectiveness of cutting-edge approaches like advanced imaging and enhanced procedural techniques. Moreover, there is an emphasis on refining patient selection criteria and exploring the possibilities of personalized treatment plans, which are crucial for maximizing the benefits of EVAR.To gather further insights in the domain of EVAR and its future direction, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:• Innovative techniques and technologies in EVAR• Strategies to prevent and manage type II endoleaks• Advances in imaging technologies for improved outcomes• Development of personalized treatment plans• Challenges in patient selection and outcome predictionsWe eagerly anticipate contributions from a wide range of disciplines, encouraging diverse perspectives to inform future practices in endovascular aortic repair.Topic Editor Matthias Trenner is a Proctor for Terumo Aortic,a Proctor for iVascular, and has received speaker's honorarium from GORE.
