Precision Dentistry: Integrating Advanced Technologies for Enhanced Outcomes - Volume II
Precision dentistry represents a transformative evolution in oral healthcare, driven by the integration of advanced digital technologies alongside expanding research methodologies. Innovations such as digital impressions, CAD-CAM systems, 3D printing, intraoral and facial scanning, artificial intelligence, and advanced radiographic imaging (including CBCT and 3D diagnostics) have significantly enhanced diagnostic accuracy, treatment planning, and clinical execution. In parallel, material-based research, implant innovations, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and associated structure analysis, and finite element analysis (FEA) have deepened the understanding of biomechanical behavior and treatment outcomes. These advancements support highly customized, patient-centered care with improved efficiency and predictability. However, as these technologies evolve, there remains a critical need to evaluate their clinical applicability, long-term performance, educational integration, and real-world effectiveness through diverse research approaches, including clinical and educational surveys.Despite rapid technological progress across dental disciplines, achieving consistent precision, efficiency, and long-term clinical success remains a challenge. Conventional diagnostic and therapeutic approaches often rely on subjective interpretation and operator-dependent techniques, leading to variability in outcomes. The integration of advanced tools, including digital imaging, radiographic analysis, CAD-CAM workflows, 3D printing, artificial intelligence, implant systems, and biomechanical modeling through finite element analysis, offers significant potential to overcome these limitations. This Research Topic aims to comprehensively evaluate and integrate emerging technologies and methodologies across multiple domains, including radiographic studies, material science, TMJ and associated structures, implantology, and computational simulations. Additionally, it seeks to incorporate insights from clinical surveys and educational research to assess practitioner adoption, training needs, and patient perspectives. By addressing clinical effectiveness, biomechanical performance, cost-efficiency, and interdisciplinary collaboration, this initiative aspires to establish evidence-based strategies that enhance precision, predictability, and personalization in dental care. Ultimately, the goal is to bridge innovation with clinical implementation and education, fostering a holistic, data-driven approach to modern dentistry. This Research Topic invites high-quality submissions that explore the expanding scope of precision dentistry through diverse research domains and methodologies. We welcome original research, clinical trials, systematic reviews, case reports, finite element analysis studies, radiographic investigations, material-based research, and survey-based studies (both clinical and educational).Key areas of interest include, but are not limited to: • advanced radiographic imaging and diagnostics, • biomaterials and dental material performance, • implant design and outcomes, • TMJ and associated structural analysis, digital workflows, CAD-CAM technologies, 3D printing, • intraoral and facial scanning, and AI-assisted diagnostics and treatment planning. Contributions involving finite element modeling to evaluate biomechanical behavior, as well as clinical and educational surveys assessing knowledge, attitudes, adoption, and training in digital dentistry, are strongly encouraged.Submissions focusing on clinical accuracy, patient outcomes, workflow optimization, long-term performance, and translational or implementation research are particularly valued. This collection aims to integrate technological innovation, clinical evidence, and educational perspectives to advance precision dentistry and guide its effective adoption in modern dental practice.
