Public Health Advancement through Synergy in Healthcare, Health Insurance, and Pharmaceuticals

The field of public health is witnessing a pivotal shift towards comprehensive system integration, as the coordination of healthcare services, health insurance, and pharmaceutical management becomes a global priority. International experience and recent reforms highlight that successful collaboration among these sectors is fundamental for achieving high-quality, efficient, and equitable health systems. In China and beyond, this synergy has been linked to improvements in service accessibility, resource optimization, health equity, and cost control. However, outstanding challenges persist in operationalizing this coordination, such as in payment reforms, dynamic pricing of medical services, digital transformations, and performance evaluations of health institutions. Current research signals important advances in policy models and digital tools, yet gaps remain in empirical evidence, integrated policy assessment, and the identification of best practices for sustainable public health outcomes. This Research Topic aims to foster in-depth examination and cross-disciplinary discussion on strengthening public health through the enhanced collaboration of healthcare delivery, health insurance, and pharmaceutical systems. The primary goal is to analyze innovative mechanisms, policy reforms, and technological advances that drive high-quality development in public health institutions and services. It seeks to answer key questions on how system-level coordination can improve population health, enhance the value of public hospitals, promote health equity, and address the evolving needs of diverse communities. By synthesizing theoretical insights and practical experiences, this Research Topic aspires to inform future reform agendas, guide evidence-based policymaking, and support sustainable development in public health. The boundaries of this Research Topic are set to analyze the synergy between healthcare, health insurance, and pharmaceutical reforms and their direct impact on public health systems and outcomes.
